SUNY Upstate Medical University here in Syracuse, NY is adding on a new multi million dollar oncology wing. The last steel beam was  delivered to the job site the first week of February, 2013. The beam had been powder-coated in white to take fine-tipped flow pen writing.

They have asked persons who have passed through the ROC (Regional Oncology Center) to come in and sign the beam which is on display in the main lobby of the main hospital. The flow-tipped pens are color-coded according to ones type of cancer.   Since the ROC has been our home-away-from-home for going onto fourteen years, Irene, now 77, figured she had better sign the beam. This she did the day she had her port last cleaned.

You can see that many, many have signed all sides of the beam. There has been such a great response that she had great difficulty finding a place to sign.   Yes, the little girl is a patient who has found remission at the recently opened Golisano Pediatric Oncology Center! She was such a sweetie-pie when we talked with her.
